What Are Phentermine Diet Pills?
Prescription appetite suppressants, also known as “diet pills,” have been used for many years as a treatment for weight loss and chronic obesity. When used in combination with a weight loss and exercise plan, many patients have found weight loss success.
There are only a handful of prescription appetite suppressants that have been approved by the FDA. One of the most common prescription diet pills at Mediplan Diet is Adipex-P (Phentermine).
What is Adipex-P (Phentermine)?
Phentermine, the generic name for Adipex-P, is often prescribed as an appetite suppressant for people who are at high risk of diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Phentermine works to curb your appetite via your central nervous system. Phentermine diet pills are not a replacement for a healthy diet and exercise plan, but more of an addition to.
What Does Phentermine Look Like?
Once you get a prescription for Phentermine from your doctor, you will need to get it filled at Mediplan Diet or at your local pharmacy. Typically, phentermine weight loss pills are white with tiny blue specs. They are also available in capsule form that are blue and white or yellow. There are several manufacturers of Phentermine and we have had some patients prefer one manufacturer over another. You can fill your Phentermine prescription while you are at Mediplan Diet – no waiting in line at the pharmacy!
Most patients qualify for prescription appetite suppressants, such as Phentermine or Adipex, which curb the hunger typically associated with dieting.
Each month during your weight loss journey, you’ll visit MediPlan Diet Services for a one-on-one conversation with a doctor or nurse practitioner. Here, you can discuss, in detail, your successes and your issues with your diet, exercise plan, your past medical history and current feelings regarding your health and fitness.
How Should I Take Phentermine?
As always, you should follow the advice of your doctor for dosing instructions. Typically, we recommend starting the day with a good breakfast (around 7:00 am), then taking your daily dose around 9:00 am. It is recommended you take the medicine on an empty stomach with a full glass of water.
If you find you are having difficulty sleeping or feeling hungry later in the evening, you should contact your doctor to discuss other options.
It is important to talk with your doctor about other medications you may be taking at the same time as you are taking Phentermine.
