Did you know that our beloved chocolate milkshake’s birthday dates back to 1885?  Or, that the original version included a shot of WHISKEY?

In observance to the National Chocolate Milk Shake Day, we’ve come up with a low calorie version that everyone can celebrate with.

Here’s what you’ll need:

1 Frozen large banana
1 Cup of non-fat, low-fat milk, or almond milk
1 Tablespoon of reduced fat peanut butter
1 Tablespoon of cocoa powder
1 teaspoon of honey
Splash of vanilla

In a blender, combine all the ingredients and blend until smooth.  For thickness, add about a cup of ice and blend until smooth.

If prepared using nonfat milk, the shake is about 310 calories.
If prepared using low fat milk, the shake is about 330 calories.
If prepared using almond milk, the shake is about 271 calories.

In comparison, a medium chocolate milk shake from some of our favorite chains contain more than 650 calories!
