Folks always seem to expect me to make a weight-loss or fitness-related New Year’s resolution.

And I almost never them down.

I have multiple health-related goals and the new year is a certainly a good time to assess those goals and make one or more of them a priority.

But those folks also always seem to expect me to achieve those resolutions.

No pressure, though, right?

The staff here at Mediplan Diet Services understands the hard work and dedication that it takes – on a day-in, day-out basis – to lose weight and get fit. That’s the reality of what we deal with every day.

We also understand the significance of New Year’s resolutions: fresh starts, clean slates, new beginnings and all that. That’s all important.

It really is.

And we believe we have some tools and strategies to help turn your New Year’s resolution into a year-end success story. Here are a couple of our most helpful ideas to prepare you for the journey ahead.

Limit You Goals.

Momma always said to dream big.

Momma was noble. Momma had good ideas. But when it comes to health and fitness goals, it’s best to nod and smile patronizingly at dear old mom and understand that smaller, more easily achievable benchmarks are the way to go here.

Look, it’s great to have an eye on the ultimate prize, but if your sole idea of weight loss success is to be a size 4 by bikini season, there’s a good chance that you’re going to miss that mark.

At Mediplan, we can help you create smart goals that are easily attainable with the proper execution of a diet and fitness plan.

Look, if you have just one end goal, you only get to feel good about yourself for achieving ONE goal, one time. And during a weight loss journey, you’re going to want reasons to feel good about yourself as often as possible.

So, smaller, more focused goals give you the opportunity to enjoy more successes at various stages of your process. And that’s key for keeping you motivated to continue toward your ultimate goal.

Find Some Help.

Accountability is really just a fancy way of saying “guilt trip,” isn’t it?

Think about it, without someone holding our collective feet to the fire, how productive would we actually be as a human race?

Before you answer that, consider your Netflix account.

I certainly wouldn’t be the upstanding, productive cog in the wheel that I am if I didn’t feel a certain accountability to my family, my coworkers, friends, clients, and to the world around me.

And I don’t mean I’d be out burning down empty warehouses for giggles, but I sincerely believe I wouldn’t have the motivation necessary to do all that I do on a day-to-day basis.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not selling our inner drive short. Self-motivation is real and it’s vital to our getting out of bed every day. But being held accountable by others is just as vital.

And it’s that accountability, advice, and inspiration from trusted sources that can help you check off the weight loss goals we discussed earlier in this article.
