Fun-size treats and candy can make Halloween a tricky time for losing weight. Halloween is the unofficial start of the holiday season – two months of bite-size candy, homemade treats, rich desserts, and family dinners.  Here are a few tips to help you maneuver through the season!

Buy candy that you don’t like. The easiest way to keep from eating something is to not like it!  So, instead of stocking up on those delicious little chocolate treats, maybe buy candy corn instead?

Stay Hydrated!  Instead of reaching for the candy bowl, reach for the bottle of water!  Additionally, drinking plenty of water in the days following Halloween treat is a great trick to flush your system and help you feel energized.

Grab some gum. Sugarless gum gives your mouth a burst of sweet sensation for very few calories.

Count the empty wrappers. Don’t throw away your bite-size candy wrappers immediately. Keep them in sight so you can track how many you’ve eaten. It’s about accountability.

Reach For Low Calorie Candy Options.  Not all candy will wreck your diet.  If you are wanting a treat, reach for Peanut M & M’s, York Peppermint Patties, or a good ole Tootsie Pop.  These tasty treats will hit the spot without busting your calories for the day!  Here are more candy options!

Even though Halloween can be a difficult time while you are counting calories, making better food choices can help you stay on track with your weight loss goals.  For more help and tips visit Mediplan Diet Services today!
